David Harvey gave a talk on the work of the Derbyshire Blood Bikes Charity.
The Charity was set up and registered in 2012 to provide a service to the two main Hospitals in Derbyshire, Royal Derby and Chesterfield Callow. Their members are volunteers who give of their time freely mainly for the urgent delivery of blood and blood products for these hospitals. Currently they have seven bikes and one car for this service which receives no public money and is dependant on public donations. The service is available 24/7 and in 2017 received 630 calls from the NHS.
In 2017 they extended the service to include urgent prescriptions.
